Mathura Boat Tragedy: Death Toll Rises To 11; Boat Operator Arrested (X/@MohitBalmi12907)
Mathura (UP): The death toll in the unfortunate boat tragedy in Yamuna river in Mathura that shook the nation on Friday, has climbed to 11. On Saturday, one more body was recovered after the search in the rescue operation, as per the officials. In a major update in the tragedy the officials further added that the operator of the ill-fated vessel has been arrested.
Revealing further details in the case, in-charge of the Health department's Rapid Response Team, Bhudev Prasad told PTI, ''The body of a man was recovered from near Devraha Baba Ghat, almost 1 kilometre from the spot where the boat had capsized in Vrindavan on Friday.''
As per the reports, the deceased has been identified as Manik Tandon. The 42 years old, is a resident of Ludhiana, stated Prasad.
Soon after the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanth said, ''The loss of lives in the boat capsizing accident in Mathura district is extremely tragic and heart-rending. My condolences are with the bereaved families. Instructions have been issued to the concerned officials to immediately reach the site, conduct rescue and relief operations, and ensure proper treatment for the injured.''
He added, ''I pray to Lord Shri Ram that the departed souls attain eternal peace, and that the grieving families are granted the strength to bear this immense sorrow, while the injured recover swiftly.''
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also extended financial aid of Rs 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the families of the Mathura boat tragedy victims. PM also announced Rs 50,000 each for those injured in the incident.
